Heritage
A little history.
Merlin — Tri Trang's southern half — was opened up in the 1990s when a single hotel took the hillside behind the bay and cut the road in. The beach itself is public, as all Thai beaches are, but the approach through the trees keeps it feeling like somewhere you have been let into. The jungle behind is still forest reserve, and hornbills and macaques come down the slope in the early morning.
