Heritage
A little history.
Bang Tao was a tin-mining wasteland until the 1980s, its lagoons the flooded scars of dredging. A twenty-year replanting programme turned the site into Laguna Phuket, Asia's first integrated resort complex, and the casuarina trees and waterways that define the bay today were all planted by hand. Behind the beach, Cherngtalay's Boat Avenue and Porto de Phuket have become the island's weekend market and restaurant quarter.
