Heritage
A little history.
Samui's Buddhist community built on its northeast corner, where the sea and lakes gave the temples their setting. Wat Plai Laem's eighteen-armed Guanyin, raised over a man-made lake, and the golden seated Buddha at Wat Phra Yai on Ko Fan are twentieth-century works, but they sit among far older village temples still used for daily merit-making.
