Maenam Hills, Koh Samui

Karma Sawet's thirteen villas sit in the hills above Maenam, looking across the Gulf to Koh Phangan. The beaches, Fisherman's Village, waterfalls and island boat trips are all a short drive away.

About The Area

Life around Sawet.

Maenam sits in the middle of Koh Samui's north coast. It has a long, gentle beach, a small fishing pier and the ferry to Koh Phangan and Koh Tao. Karma Sawet looks down on it from the wooded hills just behind.

Maenam's Thursday walking-street market is well loved for its street food and crafts. Bophut's Fisherman's Village is around 15 minutes away, Chaweng about 25 minutes and Samui Airport roughly 20 minutes. The lush coastline here was also where The White Lotus series was filmed.

A Little History

Stories of the past.

Maenam began as a Chinese-Thai fishing and coconut village. Its old wooden shophouses and its Chinese shrine are a reminder of the traders who settled here a century ago, when Samui was reached only by boat.

The hills behind the village were long used for coconut and durian orchards. "Sawet" means "white" or "pure" in Thai, which suits the peaceful hillside where the villas now stand.
