A little history.
Bavaria grew from an early medieval duchy into a kingdom in 1806, preserving a strong identity shaped by Alpine farming communities, monasteries, market towns and the royal Wittelsbach dynasty. Its landscape still carries that story in onion-domed churches, painted façades and lakeside villages.
Schliersee has welcomed summer visitors since the railway arrived from Munich in the late nineteenth century. The lake and surrounding peaks became a natural retreat for city dwellers, while nearby Munich developed into Bavaria’s cultural capital and Salzburg flourished across the Austrian border.
