Sierra Nevada
A winter playground that opens from December through April — ski beneath Mulhacén in the morning, then wander the village centre at dusk, where boutique-lined lanes and mountain-view restaurant terraces come alive.
Heritage
A little history.
The range holds mainland Spain's highest summit, Mulhacén (3,479m), named for the Nasrid sultan said to be buried there. Its slopes were mined for snow and ice long before skiing arrived — blocks were carried down by mule to cool Granada — and the resort hosted the Alpine World Ski Championships in 1996.
